As part of our ongoing charitable commitment to Self Help Africa, Kate, Stu and the team at Nomadic Washrooms are hosting a Charity Ball in Montgomery Town Hall on Saturday 15th October 2022.
The goal is simple, as the main sponsor, at Nomadic Washrooms we aim to raise at least £6,000 to fund the construction of 25 toilets for the Blue Schools Plus Project in the Chittagong Hill Tract region of Bangladesh. A cause that aligns with Nomadic Washrooms’ love for loos, all proceeds from the event will be forwarded straight to Self Help Africa and allocated directly to the project we are supporting.
We would love to see you all dressed up (and for you to see us scrubbed up well for a change) at the ball. To find out more about the event, how you can get involved and our work with Self Help Africa, keep reading below.

Nomadic Washrooms PARTNERSHIP WITH Self-Help Africa

We first encountered Self Help Africa in 2017, at Shrewsbury Food Festival where we were sampling food for our wedding day. We stumbled across their stall and got chatting to Monica, Steph and the team and loved what they did. We decided there and then that instead of buying ‘Wedding Favours’ for our guest we would donate to Self Help Africa instead. Following our wedding day, we then decided to have an extended honeymoon and climb Kilimanjaro, raising £15,000 for the charity.
In the following year, Nomadic Washrooms was founded and one of our core values has always been to be operate ethically as a business. From the small details such as only using eco-friendly products for you to freshen up when using our luxury washrooms, to our ongoing partnership with Self Help Africa.
Our first project with Self-Help Africa as Nomadic Washrooms, resulted in the planting of 514 trees, 47 in the UK and 467 in Africa. Helping us to offset our Carbon footprint, and helping small businesses and farms in Africa by increasing their productivity and output. After the success of this collaboration and witnessing the high-quality work completed by Self Help Africa, it was only right to continue our partnership.

The Blue Schools Plus project is a perfect fit for Nomadic Washrooms. Providing facilities and education for young people in the Chittagong Hill Tract region of Bangladesh to create positive behaviours around water, sanitation, hygiene, nutrition, and the environment.
As the main sponsor, our target is to raise at least £6,000 to help fund the construction of 25 loos through a charitable donation from our company and the proceeds from the ball.
Self-Help Africa’s Blue Schools Plus Project
The Blue Schools Plus Project is for Health and the Environment in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Banglesash. Self Help Africa is looking to raise 50,000 Euros for 25 schools and student councils to equip them with the facilities, resources and knowledge to improve the water, sanitation and hygiene environment in their schools. This project will also include nutrition-related topics while introducing new student-led behaviours to promote positive practices that extend beyond the schools and also benefit the local communities. It is estimated that the Blue Schools Plus Project alone will benefit 3,940 males, 4,810 females and 8,750 children and infants in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Banglesash.
At Nomadic Washrooms, our goal is to raise £6,000 through donations and a personal business donation from ourselves, for the Blue Schools Plus Project to contribute to the construction of 25 toilets. This is where we need your help!
